Onboarding Access Requests

Access requests and administrative steps needed to make your project run smoothly.

Every onboarding project is unique, and the platforms we need to access will vary based on each church’s specific needs. Please refer to the email sent by your onboarding manager. While the article provides a wide range of potential requests, you only need to focus on those specifically mentioned in that email.

Website Domain Name
While partnering with Digital Outreach, we recommend granting us access to your domain so we can manage all technical DNS updates through Cloudflare, our preferred platform. This will enable us to direct your domain to the new website currently in development. Rest assured, this change will not affect your email or any other services that depend on your domain.

Please provide us with temporary access to your domain name registrar by choosing one of these two options:

Option 1 (preferred):  Go to your domain name registrar, and create a new user under your account and provide access to onboarding@digitaloutreach.com.  If you create an account and an email is not automatically sent to our onboarding email address, please send us the name of your domain registrar and confirmation that access has been granted.  Here are specific instructions for a few of the most common domain registrars:

Option 2: You can provide us with your access credentials.  Be sure to temporarily change your password before sending the credentials and then update the password again once we've confirmed that the changes have been complete.

Of course, you retain full ownership of your domain and can grant or revoke our access at any time. Once you confirm that we have access, we’ll proceed with the necessary setup steps.  Also, please note that the final site launch won’t occur until all revisions are complete and you’ve approved the launch.

FAQ: Why do we recommend that our church partners allow us to manage their DNS?

1) Technical Expertise - DNS management can be complicated, and most churches don’t have the in-house resources to handle it. By letting us manage your DNS, you can simply request any needed updates instead of dealing with technical complexities on your own.

2) Security & Speed - We use Cloudflare for DNS management, adding an extra layer of security and improving website load times. In more technical terms, Cloudflare’s global Content Delivery Network (CDN) caches copies of your site on servers geographically close to your visitors. This setup not only reduces load times based on a visitor’s location but also helps protect against threats such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

3) Website Uptime - In the unlikely event of a server outage, having direct DNS access significantly shortens the time needed to restore your site on a different server—getting you back online faster.

Planning Center Publishing

Publishing is the Planning Center product you use to build your Church Center app and website. If you plan to host your sermons in Planning Center, they’ll be managed there as well. We need access so we can build your app and assist with any necessary sermon migration.
To grant us access, please go to the Planning Center People page and create a generic account—for example, using the first name “Digital” and last name “Outreach”—by clicking Add person and entering the email address onboarding@digitaloutreach.com.

Next, navigate to the Publishing page. Enter "Digital Outreach" (the person you just added under “People”) and select. Once added, an email will be sent with instructions to set a new password and log in.  That's it!

Google Advertising Verification

Digital Outreach specializes in creating and managing Google Ads campaigns that position your church at the top of Google search results when members of your community are looking for you.  To promote transparency on the web, Google requires advertisers to verify their legal identity through its Advertiser Identity Verification process.
As part of this process, Google will confirm your identity and display a disclosure on any ads you run, showing your name and location (for more details, click here). For agencies like ours that manage ads on your behalf, we will take care of the verification but will need to submit certain documents. Acceptable forms of documentation include:
  • A letter or notice issued or stamped by the IRS, such as CP 575 that confirms your Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • A copy of the organization’s Form 8871, 8872, or 990 from the IRS website
  • A state-issued certificate of business registration or incorporation
  • Your organization’s most recent SEC filing, including Form 10-K, 10-Q, or 8-K
  • A business credit report from Experian, Equifax, TransUnion, or Dun & Bradstreet

ACTION:

Please upload one of the documents to the Google Drive folder provided by Digital Outreach. For applicable churches, it's possible that you have already supplied this as part of your Google Ad Grant application process.
